Agreement signed between Administrative Employees' Union and Management
Close, productive and dedicated collaboration contributed to shaping a dignified agreement and progressing with catching-up work.
Montréal, May 9th, 2025
La Fabrique de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Montréal, the non-profit organization in charge of managing the historical site of the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, announces that, following the preliminary agreement reached in December 2023, the collective agreement was signed with administrative employees on April 22, 2025. The confirmation of this agreement now enables all operations personnel to focus entirely on catching-up objectives and the services offered to the population.
La Fabrique’s management wishes to highlight the increased productivity and accelerated catching-up made possible through the close collaboration that exists between the Notre-Dame-des-Neige Cemetery’s leadership and administrative staff. As a result of this dedication, and although certain objectives remain to be achieved, a great number of families received the services they had patiently waited for.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to count on teams that are so attentive, so eager to accumulate mandates in order to help waiting families.” — Michel Issa, CEO of La Fabrique de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Montréal
Following the delays that occurred during 2023 and 2024, La Fabrique prepared a detailed and ambitious catching-up plan aimed at meeting the needs of bereaved families. The teams working hard on the grounds to embellish the site saw similar efforts being carried out among the administrative personnel, who were contacting families and coordinating all services. The solutions put forward by these employees, as well as their personalized, conscientious and proactive approach, rose to meet the expectations of the families and public. The colossal tasks which needed to be achieved have now become a list of successes.
“We are extremely pleased to be able to count on teams that are so attentive, so eager to accumulate mandates in order to help waiting families”, stated Michel Issa, Chief Executive Officer of La Fabrique de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Montréal. “It has been a very busy period, and there is still a lot to do, but together we have managed to make very good progress. The signing of the new collective agreement with the administrative personnel is also the fruit of this collaboration, which is based on clear objectives, shared work, and mutual respect. We are committed to maintaining this philosophy during future negotiations. But first and foremost, today I want to express our gratitude to our administrative employees. As I often say, our employees are our strength. I am convinced that the families will agree with me.”
As one of the largest cemeteries in North America, and the largest in Canada, the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery offers a peaceful and dignified environment where families and visitors can gather and reflect. The various teams make sure of this every day, whether they are working in the field or in the offices, so that all visitors to the site feel welcomed.
