Prearranged Services

What is a prearranged funeral contract?

Funeral prearrangements allow you to plan your final wishes while you are alive, and to ensure that they are respected at the time of your death.

It is also a good way to share your wishes for your funeral with your loved ones. In your contract, you can specify the service that suits you (burial, cremation, etc.), the casket or urn of your choice, your interest in a religious or secular funeral, etc.—all while respecting your budget.

The prearrangements consist of two contracts between you and Notre-Dame-des-Neiges:

  • The prearranged funeral services contract, which includes all goods and services rendered surrounding the passing, except for the grave and its maintenance. For example, the cremation, the urn, and the ceremony can be included in this contract.
  • The contract for the advance purchase of a grave, which includes the purchase of a cemetery plot, a columbarium space or a crypt, as well as its maintenance.

The benefits of prearranged funerals

  • At the time of your passing, the prearranged funeral contract you signed will spare your loved ones from having to make emotional, and sometimes stressful, decisions at an already difficult time for them.
  • Unlike most cemeteries in the greater Montréal area, Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery still has many available plots. We also have many spaces at your disposal in our mausoleums and columbaria.
  • Prearrangements also alleviate potential financial stress for your loved ones, since you are paying for your own funeral.
  • In your prearrangements, you can also include space for your loved ones to ensure that you are together when the time comes.
  • By making your prearrangements today, you are also protecting yourself from potentially higher funeral costs caused by inflation—purchasing a service at today’s price for the future is a wise financial decision.
  • It is the safest way to ensure that your wishes are respected at the time of your death. The Act respecting arrangements for funeral services and sepultures governs this sector and ensures compliance with the contract and the protection of the amounts paid and deposited in trust.

Cremation

Cremation is now chosen by nearly 75% of Quebecers. There are many reasons to choose this option, including its simplicity and the possibilities it offers.

Funerals & Ceremonies

Arrange a religious or secular funeral on site, accompanied by very talented professional musicians to mark these important and emotional moments.

Traditional Burials

Thanks to its exceptional location on Mount Royal, Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery has a large surface area that allows it to offer many plots even today.

Mausoleums : Burial in a crypt or columbarium

Burial in a columbarium allows the insertion of an urn in a niche; burial in a crypt allows the insertion of a coffin in a dedicated space in a mausoleum.

Commemoration

Because we know that your loved ones are not forgotten, we offer several memorial services and items to honor their memory.

Funeral Prearrangements

Funeral prearrangements allow you to plan your final wishes while you are alive, and to ensure that they are respected at the time of your death.

Eco-Friendly Options

Inspired by the nature of Mount Royal, we have developed eco-friendly options to allow people to make their final gesture kind to the planet.
